Day 156 Wednesday 10th February 2010
Stacey says
We headed further south to Greymouth this morning. It was another picturesque journey going through the Buller Gorge, we made a lunch stop at Cape Foulwind as Captain Cook named it when his ship got blown off course due to 'foulwind'. Before having lunch we did a 45 minute walk across a mountain which was just brilliant to take in the views, also which took you to a seal breeding colony. I didn't expect to see so many of them, but they were all in their big groups flopped over the rocks. This was our first time seeing wild seals, it was very cool to see. After lunch our next scenic stop was to see the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, which were as you can guess lots of flat shaped rocks! Then arriving to miserable rainy weather in Greymouth. It was a very small town, so we gathered it would be a nice early night. Until that is the point where walked in the dining room and saw our old friend Irish Adrian tapping away on a computer! A little later we were sat in a pub having some reunion drinks, a few games of pool, few jaigerbomb shots, we got chatting to the locals along with some more people from the hostel, and got back home at 2am!
