I haven't seen Tetsuya in five years. We were best friends in third grade, and then he and his family moved back to their home in Japan. I've spoken to him on the phone once or twice, but calling Japan isn't cheap, and we've barely spoken. It's awkward at first, his English isn't as good as I remember, but that can't be helped. But after a while it seems to come back to him and we talk constantly, catching up on five years worth of small dramas and failures and successes. I catch up with his little sister, who was three when she left but is now almost a teenager. It's nice to see him again, and he takes me all over to all the places that he thinks I should see. I'm going to be sad when I have to go home, because I don't know when I'll see him again. And things like that scare me.
