Our next stop was Omaru, and after a long drive from Mt Cook we arrived in the coastal town that we instantly liked. We found a freedom campsite and headed there spending the day relaxing overlooking the beach. In the early evening we headed to Bushy Beach a well known site to see the Yellow Eyed Penguins. This is where they return after a day in the ocean to climb the mountain to their nest. When we got there we were waiting a while for them to come in as two stupid Spaniards went down on the beach (which signs everywhere say don't do as they do not come it humans are on the beach!). In this time Angie was okay as there was a seal on the beach that was showing off for her. After Antonio and a few other people went down to get them off the beach the penguins eventually began to return to their homes. It was really nice seeing them come onshore before heading up the hills to their nest. We also saw a mummy and baby penguin in the nest (check the photo album for the pics!)
