A wonderfully informative battlefields tour of the Somme filled our morning. We visited craters, trenches and memorials, even seeing military personnel retrieve a WW1 shell at the Canadian memorial. The loss of life is just incomprehensible. It is very sobering.

The band performed at the church in Dernancourt, 5 minutes from Albert. The crowd was really appreciative, the mayor a wonderful host and the students performed very well. After we had a 'friendship drink' and they served champagne. It was very well received!

Church (Mass) at the Notre Dame in Amiens. It was not in the main church but in a smaller chapel adjoining. While it was hard to follow it was still a nice experience.

While everyone else went to church Kathy stayed back at the hotel, doing laundry duty on the tour jerseys.

A beautiful morning, brisk walk around the town with some lovely scenes. Just need some vineyards and we are in the Barossa Valley with church spires all around, bobbing up from behind green hills and paddocks/ fields.
