Oh my god... I had such a laugh here. I celebrated my birthday in style and I have to say that it was one of my best birthdays to date. I celebrated it by doing a canyon swing. It involves a free fall of 60 m into a 200m arc at 150mph. I can truly say that I have never been so scared in my entire life! Two of my friends accompanied me, one of them even did it on a chair going backwards off the ledge. The actual jump/release isn't that bad, its just the anticiaption that kills you. The trick is not to think about it and just do it. Would I do it again?... Probably, but if I had the choice I would prefer a sky dive...
Queenstown has so many eye popping, adrenaline rushing, blood curdling activites to chose from, it's quite amazing, from bungy jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, river surfing, water sledging, canyoning, paragliding, sky diving, stunt flying, snow boarding, skiing, mountain biking, helicopter flying, climbing, hiking etc.etc. (and that's without thinking too hard about it)
My night in Queenstown was spent with more friends and getting filthy drunk! My favourite bar was 'World Bar' because they served cocktails in teapots. It was a long and very funny night. It was a shame that I had to get up and catch a bus at 7 am the following morning....
MILFORD SOUNDS
I had such a hangover the following day and I slept on the bus most of the day. I did enjoy the Milford Sound cruise which took me to see Bowen Falls, Mite Peak, Anita Bay and Stirling Falls. We also got to see the hoicho penguin, one of the rarest in the world and a leopard sealion who is currently eating all the seals and bird life!
Milford Sounds is one of the most visited fiords in New Zealand because of its sheer weathered cliffs and peaks that surround it. They are spectacular.
INVERCARGILL
It is not a particular inspiring city by any means but I only stayed here one night. I did mange to do some shopping here. I bought myself a pair of trousers and two tops for five pounds! I was the happy shoppper. There were lots of outdoor fitters, but I still think that Keswick is hard to beat.
DUNEDIN
Dunedin is the south island's second largest city and its a student town. It was founded in the 1800's by scottish settlers. Dunedin is celtic for Edinburgh. I didn't spend much time here and declined a visit to Cadbury's World and the Speight's Brewery. My activity here was running up the steepest street in the world, Baldwin St. I also ran back down it too. Lung splitting stuff....
Anyway, my time is running short. Hope you are all being good and keeping well.
Take care of yourselfs
Lots of Love Annie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
