Today we went on a tour of good old Neighbours :)
We started our journey on a Neighbours bus at 8am and on the way we all stopped at the Neighbours shop to check in. I had, had a small accident on the bus and broke Ian's pen! Ooops! Luckily they had Neighbours pens on sale for $3! This came in handy for an autograph I got later on a Neighbours postcard! Yay!
When we arrived in Erinsborough (Erinsborough is an anagram for Our Neighbours) the bus driver, a lady called Donna in her 30's who appeared a little strict, pointed out the school ' Erinsborough High School', which has been used many times in episodes. Apparently they only use the outside of the school for filming and use their studio for the interior.
The buildings in Eringsborough are experts in disguising themselves :) Sometimes the T.V studio will become the airport or even a hospital, depending on the current story line. The way they do this is simple, they place a fake sign in front of the genuine one and it's ready!
Next we parked up at Ramsay Street! It was a lot smaller than we expected. Interesting fact, the houses they use are actually lived in by regular families! They are paid for Neighbours to shoot episodes outside, but never use the interior, that's done inside the studio.
We all got off the bus and started taking photos, trying to avoid getting a security guard in the shot. Donna told us other tourists who haven't come with an organised tour group try to peak through the windows, unaware they are real homes and that's why security is needed. Poor residents dancing with their hair brush pretending to be a pop star! lol
We had only been in Ramsay Street for a couple of minutes and our driver had received two phone calls on her mobile. It turned out our mystery cast member was ready to meet us! We all hopped on the bus and drove to the T.V studios.
A man with sunglasses on, in his late 20's approached the door, I didn't recognise him and it turned out the majority of us didn't either. He introduced himself, his name was Scott Major and his character name was Lucas Fitzgerald. He had only been working for Neighbours 3 months, but was actually one the original characters when he was younger. The UK is behind with episodes by a few months, so we won't see him on the show for a while yet.
He was a friendly man and let anyone have his autograph:) plus a photograph taken with him. I would close my eyes in the picture though heh!! lol Around us were some studio sets, such as a garage, shop, cafe and bus stop. There was even Declan's car he drove off the road in a recent episode, surprisingly there wasn't a scratch on it though! lol :)
We all got onto the bus again and drove back to Ramsay Street. I really liked it there; it looked like a perfect little road to live on. We were handed a Ramsay Street sign to hold and took photos of each other in front of the houses.
The trip was a little sad I know:) but you can't go to Australia and not visit! lol it's only a couple of hours of your time and I enjoyed it, lol :)
