Hello people!
We're both fine - had a lovely couple of days up in Port Douglas where we also visited the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation - very impressive! Just arrived back in Cairns to get sorted out before saying bye to Skippy 'The Campervan' and hop on our flight to Hong Kong! Excited about moving on but sad to leave Oz!
We've been very busy since we last blogged - have free internet here so we're going to try and upload some photos but it's a bit hit and miss so may not be able to get it all on! If we don't get chance to get the photos up here's a snapshot of what we've been up to since leaving Brisbane.....
Hanging with animals in Australia Zoo - we saw huge lizards, crocodiles, koalas, cute dingoes, amazing birds, kangaroos, tigers, giraffes as well as many others. We enjoyed watching the lively otters at feeding time and fed the elephants ourselves!
4 wheel driving on Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world - we saw some wild dingoes, drove on the beach, swam in the beautiful Lake McKenzie, walked in the rainforest, drifted down Eli Creek and were amazed by the huge shipwreck!
Sailing, snorkelling and star gazing around the Whitsunday Islands for 2 days - lush! We enjoyed hoisting the sail, watching the sunset and stars and snorkelling with the turtles! Fab!
Horse riding on the beach and in the water on Magnetic Island as well as having Radical Bay (a lush beach) all to ourselves! Dave had a go at trotting and cantering - bless him, it was his first time horse riding! Well done Dave - although he did complain about a sore bottom afterwards! We cooked some tea by the side of the beach and watched another amazing sunset with a glass of wine! We also saw lots of wild rock wallabies - very cute...and held a baby crocodile and a huge snake! I was even lucky enough to have a cuddle from Noah, the Koala although he was a bit smelly!
Snorkelling and diving on the Outer Great Barrier Reef - we were lucky enough to complete 2 dives each - I was very brave as just jumping off the boat with all the gear attached to me was a huge achievement let alone breathing underwater! An amazing experience as we got to see lots of fish and we even found Nemo! Underwater photos purchased and I look petrified on most of them - some more giggling from us - even next to Nemo! You will all have to wait to see them when we're back though!
Spotting crocs in the wild on a crocodile cruise on the Daintree River - one of them looked at Dave a bit funny but we were safe in the boat!
Phew...a busy few weeks - and in between all of that we have of course been chilling on some more lovely beaches along the way!!
Oooo....we've also experienced some more wildlife near our van - lots of bats and frogs up this end of Aus!
Right - a brief blog complete! Hope you are all well and enjoyed the Easter holidays - we were pleased that the Easter Bunny found us here - yum, yum!
Love to all......we'll be in touch soon from China! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
