Greeted 2013 on a boat in Sydney Harbour, watching the great fireworks. Happy New Year to you when it comes x

Well it's certainly a 'wow' setting of a city. Huge natural harbour with coves & inlets; the bridge, the Opera House. Just like the pictures we see. Explored a bit today, starting with The Rocks where the first Europeans set foot, so an old part of town. Then took a ferry to Manly, which is out toward the mouth of the harbour. Hired a bike, nice to be on wheels again. Took a tour of the headland in what turned out to be half ride & half carry the bike ove...

Flew to Brisbane from Cairns and then mini bus to Byron Bay. Staying with old work friends which is nice. Byron Bay is hippy and/or chic, depending on your take. Beautifully aqua marine (of course), colored sea, big white rollers, surfer air. Reminds me of California in some ways. So made it too Australia's most eastern point, Cape Byron.
