Hey Hey,
We arrived safely in kuala Lumpur on a train from Singapore that took a meer seven hours.
Upon arriving we located a fine hostel to stay in, in China town. The taxi took us to the hostel, which was located nect to a busy market that sold virtually everything from fruit, food to every conceivable fake item of clothing.
We settled into the very modest hostel, and had a look around the city at night time, which was nice as I had only seen it in the day light. That night we had a couple of drinks and watched some good english football.
As Pete and I had been to kula Lumpur already on the way to India, we gave the Petronas towers a miss although Alex and Frost went and woke us up on their arrival back in the hostel.
That day we went to the Batu caves, which is a Hindu holy site where they were gearing up for a religious festival over the following days. We didn't want to spend to much time in KL so decided against visiting the caves on the day of the festivities.
It was a great site and on the lead up to the caves you had to climb 272 stair. Very challenging considering my current level of fitness.
We did decide to pay to see a snake exhibition after climbing the stpes. It was a stool with a huge MDF box that was about three metres squared. We all assumed that there would be one man in there with one snake. It transpired that there was two men inside with about 20 snakes. A very strange sight.
That night we headed into the city to get some photoes of the skyline when it was dark and after a coupke of beers headed to bed.
We had an earlyish start in the morning as we had a trip planned to the Cameron Highlands, which was bout 5 hours away. This was a few thousand metres up in the hills, where they had acres of tea plantations and excellent gardens and attractions.
We arrived on the bus to be greeted by around 4 men trying to coerce us into going to their hostel. We decided to go to a hostel called Daniel's lodge, which seemed relaxed and fairly well equipped.
We headded down for some dinner, a couple of drinks and then hit the sack ready for a tour of the highlands the following day.
I would say that we got up early but that would be a lie. It was around half eleven that we rose, so decided to go on the half day tour, which took us around the tea plantation and factory, strwaberry fields, honey producer, a Buddhist temple and also a Rose garden and insect and butterfly exhibition.
That night again, as you can probably guess the theme, we had a few drinks and then prepared to leave the next day to go to George town on our final leg of malaysia before hitting Thailand.
I am writing this entry from George town and will be leaving to go to Thailand tomorrow.
We have only benn here one night and all I can really tell you about the place is that is has a very random karaoke bar that once you had a drink can be fairly amusing and well to be fair quite off the cuff.
I will write again from Thailand and I must say I am fairly impressed as to my regularity of updating my blog.
Take care
