Where in the World is Anna??
Greetings from the Osan Circus!
(Thats a name my British friend Ben coined for Osan)
First a news FLASH! I just got Skype! So if you have it, e-mail me your details and we can chat!
The weather is turning cooler, which is nice because I no longer arrive at any destination drenched in sweat!!
I really like Korea. I'm having a great time and I have no regrets moving here. I am making friends with such lovely Korean people.
Here are a few: The lady at the little gimbab shop near my school. I eat there just about every day because it is around the corner from work and they are very fast. She doesn¡¯t speak any English and she is very happy to see me when I come in. I only know how to order two things off the menu, so I hope to learn more food names soon.
Each time I venture out to a Korean church, they are SO excited to have me there. I may have told you about meeting the YWAM guy. He translated the whole sermon for me. I also met a lovely lady named Ruth when I went to a Baptist church near my apartment. This week she invited me to a small group gathering of women from the church. They are starting an English language bible study. Because it was my first time to come, they had me share my faith story and I really feel like I connected with a few of the women.
Last weekend I went with a couple Canadian girls to the beach! With the weather turning cooler, we figured it would be our last chance to go. It was beautiful!! (I've included pictures here)
We stayed in a little traveler's "motel" in a tiny town. It was a small room with mats on the floor. Thank goodness it wasn't cold!! We got up before dawn and watched the sunrise, and it was beautiful! I was amazed at how warm the water was.
I go to yoga every day, and nobody at my yoga center speaks English. We get along just fine because I can watch what others do, and the yoga names are English. (flex-uh, point-uh, mermaid-uh, breathing in,) The women are very sweet to me. Surrounded by mirrors, I'm a little self conscious...I am among sleek, petite (gorgeous) asian women. But just yesterday as I was leaving, the instructor and another lady commented on my "beautiful S-shaped figure", like something they wish to have. Aha! That's what Asian women don't have,... curves!
I haven't figured out my reason for being here (in the great, cosmic sense) but I truly believe God has plans for me here... or maybe God has plans for Korea and I fit in there somehow. So I will just go along my way and try to follow the Big Guy's lead.,
A very wise friend reminded me that, "God doesn't use the able. He uses the available." So I will spend my life trying to remain available to whatever He is up to.
PLEASE PRAY:
~For grace and understanding as I deal with my bosses... things are happening that shouldn't and I need to figure out the best way to cope with that.
~For continued health and safety
~It really is a circus around here... we all really need grace
~I have a Korean friend who has all sorts of questions about faith and God and religion. She knows I am a Christian, so she wants to chat with me! I pray that God would grant me the wisdom and words to share with her.
Please know that I am praying for you as well! So e-mail me with the latest news!!
I love and appreciate you!
Anna
