Friday 11 September

It's uncomfortable to wake to the alarm at 8am. No surprises. We get up and get sorted and packed and go down and eat breakfast. It's an old arrangement of food and I wonder if it's yesterday's left overs from the restaurant. After breakfast we go get our bags and wait in reception. We get our passports back and get on the small bus that takes us 1.5hrs up to the lake. At the bed and breakfast We get our rooms and then walk down to the small town. We pass stalls and there are racks covered in tied up rags and ribbons. It looks messy to me, but apparently it's like sacred offerings. We get to a small market where there are lots of smoked fish for sale. Very nice by all reports. There are also souvenirs of various types. We head out for a boat ride and see a bride and groom getting photos. Certainly wouldn't be my choice of photo locations! The boat ride is lovely and peaceful and I feel myself getting very sleepy. Once we walk back there is a planned sauna/pool/beating. I'm so tired I skip into bed. Malcolm goes and by all accounts very nice time. I get up in time to leave for the sunset walk. We end up catching a local taxi bus van up the road. It's a bit of a walk then we catch a chair lift to the top and walk to the lookout. Lots a spectacular view and photos. It's getting pretty cold. Once down the lift we wait for everyone and walk to the road. It's getting pretty dark and not really safe to walk along the road. We wait for a bus taxi to come along and it's really not that long. We are getting hungry having not eaten since breakfast. After a brisk walk up the street we enjoy a home cooked dinner of rice ad beans (chicken for everyone else) with fresh tomatoes, desert and vodka followed by pig fat! Yuck! Unfortunately the internet is too slow for me to upload my blog. Off to bed again for me.
