Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Amelia, happy birthday to you.
12th August 1981 - I remember it well. Where have the years gone and cannot believe you are now 24!
Just wanted to be the first to wish you a wonderful day and to let you know I am thinking of you. Hope it will be a day to remember, its not often you get to spend a birthday in Bali so make the most of it. Hopefully, my confidante Lorraine will have given you some gifts and cards (hope she hasnt lost them) and you will see that you are much loved and missed by friends and family. We had to be very secretive so hope it worked!
I hope you are both feeling much better and are now enjoying your trek around Bali with your new companions. Take care and keep well my dears. Happy birthday once again. xxxxx

this message malarky is very exciting isnt it.... 2 in the space of 5 mins from me... actually wanted to apologise for the last one, have just noted the length of everyone else's messages and mine seems to be by far the longest so either a) i got terrible carried away or b) im the most interesting person you both know!! i suspect a combination of the two if truth be known!
Lorraine, keep up the good work keeping my fraggle alive, it is a VERY difficult job you have taken on! Ok, must get back to work, a man's life is at stake after all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello lamb chops! First of all i feel im must address Sweats 'issues' with Great Britain, frankly she loves it, cant get enough of it and most importantly she is trying to express that she is so unbelievably excited and happy to be home and away from all the dreadful travelling which frankly i find boring, tedious and a bit of a chore. She also makes these statements so that you dont feel bad about all the good times you're missing out on, when reality is she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited about being home and moving to Brum with me she can barely contain her excitment, in fact, i often have to say, "Sweats, chill out love, the time for our adventure will come but you must not keep trying to make all our other friends jealous with our endeavors", hopefully she'll calm down soon and stop being do excited about being home with her loved ones!
I haven't looked at all your pics yet as franky they are just a huge disappointment and there is only so much sun, sea, sand etc one person can look out, now if Lorraine had caught your 5ft 'log fall' on camera, THAT would make me look at them as the mere thought of your inability to remain on two legs never fails to both amuse and panic me! Ok, well, im still stuck here in the sweat pit that is Virginia, though i take comfort from knowing that in just a couple more weeks i will be on my way to Orlando to cruise round Disneyland, visit Shamu and swim with dolphins (though i must confess that last one scares me rigid, which i think is quite healthy, after all it is quite plausible that one of those things could go into a savage franzy and rip off my arm, after all these are wild beasts that have been caged by man, if i were a dolphin i would take great pleasure it wiping the cheesey grim off some unsuspecting tourist!) can you imagine the headlines? Ok, enough of this rambling, on a serious note, have fun ladies, try to avoid a) becoming another 'Sandra Gregory', b) having your head machetted (no ida how to spell that!) off by some local drug baron or c) marrying the local village elder!
I am gutted Sweats got in there first with the African necklance idea as i was going to request the same thing (freaky eh sweats??) anyway, i realise funds will be tight but if you're budget stretches that far, id love it, i wil stretch to a Burger King upon your return (or if you're really lucky the Old Bell) which we all know is more expensive than a McDonalds! travel safe my sweets, much love, eric xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh my god, your East Coast pics make me want to cry! Whatever you do, dont come home! Ok, im being a bit dramatic but you really dont appreciate the experience until you leave it all behind. I personally have never held such contempt for Great Britain in all my life! I hope you have an amazing time in the 3rd world, ha ha!
meals, could you please buy me an authentic African necklace? Il buy you a big mac or something?!

Hiya girls - just a quick note to wish you a lovely time in Sydney before you head for pastures new. Hope you both had good journeys there, Amelia by coach via Byron Bay and Lorraine via Virgin Airlines. I hope you get some good weather there for your last look at Australia although you will soon be in a much warmer climate when you get to Bali - you lucky girls. The photos of your East Coast adventures are looking excellent and I really enjoyed my time with you both. Its a shame we had to come back to the UK. Anyway take care and I look forward to some interesting postcards and photos from the next part of your amazing expeditions.

Hi Raine
How you doing? Moved away from Tooting Bec on Sunday to Clapham Old Town with 3 other people. Moved in and quite settled now although had an accident a couple of days ago involving a wine bottle falling through a carrier bag and jumping up between my legs and leaving me stranded in a pool of blood in the middle of Clapham. Went to casualty and had 8 stitches.
Going to limp to the festival on sunday with Beth and KT as she explained earlier but looking forward to it.
Olympic Bid date 12.46pm keep your fingers crossed for London. Il be partying that night regardless of the result as the team have put up a do in Trafalgar Sq.
Hope youre still enjoying your travels....are you in Brisbane?
