Tue 5/6 Started our sightseeing today! Planned to go to the summer palace and the lama temple was on the way so stopped off at it first. It was a lovely tibetan buddhist temple with lots of lovely architecture and a nice smell of incense all around. Sun 3/6 Arrived in Beijing around 1pm and got our transfer to our hostel. We got a nice first impression of China, clean no tooting horns and nice buildings. Our hostel is situated in a nice quiet hútòng. It has a restaurant, bar and rooftop area. Fri 1/6 We were lucky to get to our hostel this morning. We got a taxi fae where the bus dropped us off and were told we had to pay first as once the driver dropped us off he was going home as the taxi drivers were on strike! Glad our bus wasn't late arriving! After not alot of sleep on the bus down we had a nap when we arrived at the hostel. Sat 2/6 So our taxi finally turned up just after the power came back on! Typical, but at least the airport was a bit cooler than the hostel. Our first flight was from Delhi to Colombo and only 3 hours so not deadly! They wouldn't let us through with our lighters tho (first airport to take them off us!!) so when we got to Colombo we had to bum a light fae folk which was seeknin! Mon 28/5 - Thu 31/5 Not a lot to report from our few days in Nagger. A lot of relaxing in the sun. We trekked to the temple which was not far away but the hills here are just killer!
