Phill and Sue's 'allseven' Continents Adventure
After our naughty night in Sun City, we made tracks for Mozambique. On the face of it, the capital Maputo, is an ugly looking mother. That said, it feels quite safe. Well at least compared to South Africa, which, frankly, is going to hell in a bucket.
Sue had tummy troubles for a week. Regular episodes of bowel movements. You can imagine. A trip to the clinic to get checked out late on Saturday night a week ago bore no fruit. Fruit being an abstract term for stool sample. The tubes all blicked up and we sat there for 3 hours waiting for a motion. At 1am, success! They stirred the contents of the sample jar around for an eternity before announcing all was well.
Next day we travelled 500km north to the beach area of Tofo. A bit of a backpackers haunt by all accounts. Very pleasant though. If you ignore the flying rats in our grass hut, a huge spider and a centidepe the size of a Cumberland that is! We moved huts of course, though the furry terrors followed. Phill slept though the last night unaware of Sue's plight as she lay awake listening to the little buggars scurrying around our modest dwelling. She was sweating bullets.
Back in Maputo now and off to the fish market for supper tonight. You buy your own fish and have it prepared at nearby restaurants. A nice end to a hot day. 42 degrees hot!
We head for a game reserve in Swasiland tomorrow, then Rio for Christmas, god willing.
