Townsville & Cairns We left Airlie beach and headed for our penultimate stop in Townsville further up the East Coast. This was to be our launchsite for what is regarded as the best wreck dive in the world, the SS Yongala. Whitsundays We left Hervey Bay ridiculously early in the morning and were shepherded onto a huge Oz Experience coach. Our next official stop would be Airlie Beach, the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. However as it takes around 14 hours to drive straight there, the Oz Experience stops halfway at a cattle station called Kroombit. Fraser Island After leaving Noosa, we got the Oz Experience bus on the short journey up to Hervey Bay, the gateway to Fraser Island. This was another short trip on the bus so it wasn't much different to using the Greyhound.
