

Puno, Peru
The first stop in Peru was a quick trip to Puno, another town on Lake Titicaca, famous for its 'islas flotantes'. The floating islands, made entirely out of the reeds which grow in the lake are the home of the Uros people. They began living on the islands as a means of escaping the mainland (although now tour boats go over throughout the day!) It took about half an hour by boat to reach the first island.
