Visited Coney Island today for a couple of reasons. 1 - its the home of the Warriors, 2 - it has a world famous hotdog place that holds a hotdog eating contest every year (unfortunately i missed the occasion this year), and 3 - its the beach! in New York! in Brooklyn no less! after an hour on the subway I headed straight to Nathan's to grab a 'dog with onions and sauerkraut. Very good but also very hot as my scarredmouth with attest. from nathan's i moved down to the boardwalkand was immediately tempted to 'Shoot the Freak' (check the pics if you dont believe me...). I resisted the urge to "Have some fun with a paintball gun" but did notice that the freak had a big wooden shield which i didn't think was fair... slightly further down the boardwalk i spotted Deno's famous Wonder Wheel and the Cyclone. heading inland i explored the small town between Coney and Brighton beaches. this area is saturated with russian immigrants as the signs and shops will show - its known as Little Odessa in the guidebook. a quick walk down the pier and then it was time to head home.
