We arrived in Mui Ne, it was roasting hot, extremely humid and we felt rank after the sticky bus. We met up with the girls at their hotel, they had booked us a room so we dumped the bags and had a well needed cold shower! The hotel was right on the beach, had a beach shack feel to it, almost Fiji like. You could hear the waves lapping in from our bedroom. Our room was gorgeous too, four poster bed, tv, white walls, big bathroom. Shame there was an ant infestation but suppose you can't get everything when paying $9 a night.
Mui Ne is known for its watersports and sand dunes, thats what attracts people to the town. The girls had looked into doing both things but they were both so expensive. $350 for a day kitesurfing lesson and $25 to go to the sand dunes at sunset. We decided not to book either to save money as they didn't really seem worth it. Christa and I were starving so headed to Joes restaurant, as recommended by the girls. It was a lovely, good food, near the beach but we were sitting on big sofas, just what we needed after that bus. Christa joined the girls sunbathing but I flaked out and needed my bed. I managed to sleep until 7.30pm, the days of late nights in Nha Trang caught up with me. The girls went out for dinner while I got showered and ready, I waited in a nearby bar called Sankara for them. It was St Paddys day so there was a little theme to the night, although I don't think the bar was having much success as it was quite empty. I really couldn't be bothered to drink so we all shared shisha instead plus the nightlife was clearly pretty flat in Mui Ne. We got speaking to one of the windsurf instructors, so got bit of an understanding of the town. He recommended another bar down the road so we hopped on motorbike taxis and went to check it out, it was similar to the previous bar. Quite quiet, very clicky with the windsurfing crowd and the odd group of Russians. I was lumbered with talking to the instructor man again, who was nice enough but he was pretty drunk so it was a bit boring for me trying to humour the conversation. We soon returned back to the hotel for a much needed night sleep.
The next day, we managed to sleep in until about 10am, I woke up with the decision to leave Mui Ne and head to Saigon to meet Helen. I gave the other two a knock to see what they wanted to do and Liv said she'd join me but Kate would rather stay another day so that worked out well. We booked on the 1pm bus and headed to Joes restaurant for brunch, yummy yummy French toast and blueberries. We didn't have much time after that so we packed last bits and waited at the bus station. The bus left 30 minutes late but that wasn't to bad, I was sat behind the driver. Not the best seat in the house. Had to watch him miss oncoming traffic by a couple of inches, get the backwash of his cigarette smoke and watch him eating and drinking at the wheel. We even clipped another lorry at one point and he bent the mirror back. I shouldn't moan really, we've had worse buses. After a pretty inoffensive journey we arrived in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
