Monkey Mia- Perth
After we'd washed at the beach we headed to monkey Mia early. I was tired and cranky and there's a lot of flys there. I nearly made mart leave but I'm very glad we stayed.
Monkey Mia has 3 resident family's of dolphins which come right to the shore line to be fed every morning. A controlled amount so they still hunt for themselves too.
07:30 5 dolphins turned up. About 80 people Came to see them. Mart sat on the jetty to watch but I went in. Just to my knees, was really cool seeing them that close. They pick 4 people to go and feed them fish. I got picked and gave this German girl my camera to take a photo and she took some justWith the lens cap on. Idiot.
I did get some shots of the dolphins up close tho so not too bad. Dolphin I fed was called piccalo and likes to be spoke to in Italian!
They know each dolphin by name as they all have unique fins usually marked by shark attacks- didn't realise how many sharks we're in that sea. I'm sure the name shark bay should of given it away though.
Next we headed to shell beach..again name gives it away. Cool though the entire "white sand" is actually made up from tiny White Sea shells. The beach was huge and completely deserted. A lot like Western Australia. The sea was crystal clear and very shallow for miles out!
Good job we aren't allowed to drive up to exmouth as they are currently having a cyclone which is bringing bad weather down to monkey Mia later in the afternoon, so we've made the decision to drive allllll the way to Perth minus the diversion we did last time. If it starts to go dark we will have to kip in a rest area!
It's a long long laborious drive. The roads seem never ending and although cloudy it's still very hot.
3 more beach days in Perth before we head back over to the east!
