South Island-
So after our not so good ferry ride :-) we stopped off at a winery and are very ashamed to say that with our massive hangovers and no sleep, we didn't even try a sip of wine :-( (probably best tho, as even the smell of it wasn't making us feel to great!!) we then continued on the bus to a place called Marahau (Abel Tasman), which was another camp site called 'Old McDonalds Farm' and we were due to be here for two days. Although they had lots of different activities to do during the day, we were very shameful on the first day and spent the whole day in bed!! (first time we've wasted a day tho, so not too bad) and we soon made up it by signing up to do the skydive the following morning, where the bus would pick us up at 7am, so no time for changing our minds!!
There was 4 of us off of our stray bus that were doing the skydive and before we knew we was doing the highest one they did at this particular place, which was 13,000ft!
After getting all the gear on and a little speech for our dvd :-) we climbed into the very, very small plane!! Craig had the pleasure of going first and at first it just seemed like a nice little plane ride, well until we was asked the man how high we was, as it seemed quite HIGH by then and found out we was only at 4,000ft!!
I was still feeling good at that point until I saw Craig's face as he had to sit on the edge of the plane, with his legs slide underneath it, his face white and saying 'oh my god' :-) (as you can see by our pictures) (craig can get me back tho, as in some of his photos he may be looking a little white but my dvd will definitely provide a few more laughs and Mickey taking!!...
We've finally worked out how to put videos on our site, so if you click on view our videos you can see the clips of our skydive!! although i will be cringing at the thought of you all watching it, my chubby checks are enough on their own, let alone with a load g-force and me smiling way too much :-) i look like a giant hamster :-) but least we can both say we've done it now and luckily we both loved it, the best part was definitely the free falling bit and we both definitely want to do it again!
Next was on to a place called 'Barrytown', and DC (our bus driver) informed us that if you blink as you go past it, you'll miss it!! it has 40 people living there, one pub and a bone carving shop :-) But as DC explained its as good as you make it and so turns out it was going to be fancy dress, but we had to buy our costumes from a charity shop with the budget of $10!! Craig went as a cowboy and I went as a rusta, bob marley style! (limited clothes in the charity shop :-) Was a really good night, and we had a really funny group of people on the bus so we all had a good giggle.
Our next stop along the way was to Franz Josef where you can do a walk or helicopter ride to the glaciers and a lot of people have said that this was there best part of NZ. We didn't get to make it up there tho as the weather was too bad but the place we was staying in was really nice and I even randomly bumped into the receptionist from my work!! half way across the world, in the middle of no where and i recognised someone!! It was her though so i didn't end up looking too silly, she did recognised me back!
Then on to Makarora which was another tiny town where you could do a helicopter ride and a boat ride, which was really cool. I even got to sit in the pilots seat for a moment but it wasn't as cool as I thought it would be as I was so scared id knock something and end up going up on my own!!
That night (in another tiny pub) we had karaoke night. At first everybody was a bit reluctant to get up but by the end of the night I think they were actually fighting over the mic!! was really funny and craig even went up and sang 'If I could turn back time' with Fran, was very impressed!! (that will be on the videos soon as well, craigs so pleased about that :-)
Finally we were on our way to Queenstown but passing through a place called Wanaka first, where we went to puzzle world, but going in an elusion room with a hang over isnt the best idea, as we found out.
Queenstown was the last stop for us and although its the capital of extreme activities we didn't do too much here as we had done quite a bit on our travels down there, and it also had bars, clubs and restaurants which we definitely hadnt been use to on the way down. We did go in a plane over to milford sound though which was cool, saw some dolphins and fly over the moutains and finally saw some glaciers.
We also had some really funny nights out in queenstown with all of the cool people we had met. It was also our bus drivers last ever trip with 'stray' so we thought that as he's spider man costume had been so impressive on our fancy dress night that we would have the picture put onto a t-shirt and all signed it for him. (just so you know why his dressed like that in the pictures) We also went to a place called 'World Bar' where you can order a tea pot of cocktails and tested out the famous ferg burger! Everybody had told us they are the best burgers in the world and they weren't lying, although I think we took it to the extremes and had about 8 in 3days!!!
And so that was New Zealand, had an exellant time but we're ready for some sun now, and so on to Austrailia.........
