The architects John Wood the elder and his son John Wood the younger are responsible for much of the architecture in Bath.. The city is laid out in neat rows and squares with practically identical façades of which gave an impression of palatial scale and classical decorum. Many of the houses are built with the same white type of stone. The city is very beautiful on the whole.
