Adam and Charlotte's Great Escape.
Hello to everybody who still bothers to read our postcards.
It has been over a week since we last wrote one and that is because we have not had the opportunity to use the internet until now.
Well we left Kuala Lumper Wednesday before last and took a bus across the Peninsular to the Taman Negara national park. To get there required us to take a 3 hour long boat trip up the river to Kuala Tahan village. An hour was quite enough and we managed to see some water bufflows and monkeys, but like we said 3 hours gives you a really numb bum. We only spent one full day there, which with the humidity at 90 percent compared to about 70 in Kuala Lumper it felt like it was quite enough, unless you want to go on a few day trek which we didnt. In our day there we went on an organised trip which took us up Bukit Teresik, (a steep and difficult climb) to a view across the forest. Then after decending we walked along the Canopy Walkway. This is suspended 25m above the ground and we have to admit the construction of it is a bit hairy. From here we saw some good views of the different levels of the forest. That evening we opted to go on the night safari, which is not actually in the national park (as there are no roads) but around a palm tree plantation the same side of the river the village we were staying in was based on. Apart from seeing a few birds, a small snake and a couple of other animals we didn't see anything too impressive.
We left Taman Nagara last Friday and headed for the Perhentian Islands.
Sorry there are no photos at the moment we are having trouble putting them on.
Bye for now
love Adam and Charlotte xx
