The plane landed in Bangkok about midday. Having not really slept the night before or on the plane I was pretty shattered.
As I made my way through the airport I was unsure what to expect the other side of immigration. In the queue to get a visa I met a guy named Will (who had just jumped on a plane to Bangkok from India on a whim) and it turned out he was in the same situation. We got chatting and after collecting our bags decided to skytrain it to the hostel I'd already booked, lub d Siam square.
As soon as we checked in we jumped on a tuk tuk and went to meet Adam, Kyle and James near the famous Koh San Road, stopping for a cheeky pad Thai, cooked on the side of the road, on route. Met up with them at there hotel, star dome inn, before heading to a tailors for their first suit fitting and to give them my measurements. That's right... I bought 2 tailored suits!
After that it was back to the boys hotel to chill and get ready before hitting koh san for a 5L tower or 3!
Woke up the next morning having not slept enough or visited my hostel (ended up staying in the boys room at the hotel)! Decided it would be a good idea to head back to the hostel shower, dress, sort myself out a bit and then come back for the next night.
A short tuk tuk ride later I was back at the hostel to find Will well and truly passed out in bed... No surprises as he went one-for-one with Kyle aka larger karp! After we both gathered ourselves it was back on a tuk tuk to koh san... Except the tuk tuk driver decided he wouldn't take us unless we visited his brothel... At this point we got out the tuk tuk and found ourselves a taxi.
Arrived at star dome in the taxi, no dramas. Dumped our stuff in the room and head for some lunch with the boys. After another batch of 60p street food we wandered along koh san road before heading to the tourist information centre/ travel agent and then back to the tailors for my first fitting... The suits were beginning shape!
Back to the hotel to clean up again before our last group night out (as Kyle was flying home two days later and Will and I were heading up to Chiang Mai the next day... Likelihood is I'll run into James and Adam on the islands though). Another 3 towers later and a 5am finish we're back to the hotel in bed! Great last night!
Woke up and needed to figure out how to get to Chiang Mai properly as well as how to pick up my suits and get them home! Headed to the train station mid afternoon with Will to get our tickets. After a few hours wait and having met some kiwi girls, it was time to get on the sleeper train to Chiang Mai! And that's that... On route to Chiang Mai having bought 2 suits and had a couple of wild nights on koh san road with the boys! Roll on elephant riding and playing with tigers!
