Picton-the palce to venture to the Malborough Sounds-a beautiful wilderness where you can tread in the footsteps of Captain Cook and his crew of the Endeavour who landed in NZ a long long time ago on a voyage of discovery...and what a great place they found.
We got dropped off at Camp Cove where there is a memorial to Captain Cook and his crew who made many visits to NZ to trade with the locals. The trail started on a huge incline-and kept going for quite a while-hard work but worth it. The sun shone for the whole 5 hours and the sights we saw-wow! Cyrtsal clear blue water that just screamed at you 'jump in'- but it was bloody cold! A well deserved pint in the pub at the end and a rest was in order before we got the water taxi back-another hour and half of beautiful sights...a great day!
Back in the hostel jumped into the spa pool (perks of travelling) to try and relieve my achey body and then had my nightly apple crumble-hmmmm, going to miss this hostel.
