We stayed in a great little camp sight in Picton for the night (even had a heated swimming pool) and then on the advice of the owners headed off in the morning for Robin Hood Bay to try and catch some fish. Nelson-a well developed, very pretty place to live...if you have the money. We were stopping off to see Shauns cousin, have a beer and see what the city ahd to offer. As it turns out, not a lot. We walked up to the cathedral, took some pictutres and then took off for Picton.

Kaiteiriti Beach-a very swish (expensive) place to holday. For us it was a chance to get a bit of sand and sun before headin off to Nelson-bliss!

So we stayed in Takaka for the night; I was getting quite used to washing in rivers-bloody cold though. We satyed here as this was the enarest settlement to the famous Wairupupu springs; apparently the clearest in the world. Unfortunately for us (due to the spread of snot like didymo virus brought from Japan) you were no longer allowed to dive or swim in the springs. You can still walk around them which was nice, and was something to do before our long drive back...

From Murchison we drove on to Farewell spit, through Moteuka, Takaka and Collingwood. The spit is a wild bird reserve, which for us meant an expensive tour if we wanted to go along it. We chose to have a walk around the area instead, walking up to Fossil Point; which gave us a good view of the spit anyway.
