This fountain, created by Jean Tinguely in 1977, is called the 'Apotheosis of Humor' or 'Carnaval.' It is very famous in Basel, and you could literally sit there for hours just watching it work. It really is fascinating, especially since all of it is water-powered. It sits directly in front of the Theater, and I am SO glad that we got to see it functional, since they just drained all the running water in the Baechle (the little medieval streams in the streets) in Freiburg today!
