Abbi's adventures...
Have had a cool week travelling around Ecuador- firstly we went to Banos, tiny touristy town at the bottom of a huge volcano (which we couldn't see because of the clouds!). We only spent one full day there and when we woke up it was raining however, we were determined to go out so we hired bikes for the day and set off on a downhill ride past loads of waterfalls, were wet and muddy before we even left town but nevermind! Was fun though, sometimes the waterfalls went on the road, and about halfway down we saw a sign saying cable car so went and investigated- was a rickety little cage across the river above a waterfall- pretty cool and only a dollar so off we went! Was a little scary as it went at what seemed like breakneck speed, but we survived and it was fun! Then carried on down some wicked hills - felt like we were doing about 50mph, am sure it wasn't but it was cool! We left bikes at this car park snack bar place and walked to the Pailon del Diablo which was enormous and cool- the spray went so high, and there were rainbows at the bottom (see photos)! We carried on a little further and then thought we best head back as it was getting late and luckily a bus appeared, the bikes disappeared on top of the bus and off we went! Had a relaxing evening with a few beers and games off pool (I even won a couple!), ready to head off early the next morning to Quilatoa, the next stop on our route!
