Hey boys and girls!
So i have arrived in Vietnam THANK GOD! after 78 hours on a bus cheap beer and sunny beaches is just what i was after!
I am staying in Hue Backpackers Hostel - which is brillaint. there is a hectic bar down stairs and i have made loads of friends already!
I arrived late on the 29th and the hostel was too full so i just went to the nearest guest house as i was so tired. Unfortunately i spotted two cockraoches so i was out of there in a flash and managed to bag the last bed in the dorm at the hostel. I had a fairwell meal with the belguim and russian i met on the bus as we all parted our differnt ways.
In the morning i explored the citadel and the forbidden palace - mostly ruins now because of the wars and natural disasters but still a very beautiful place. i ended up roaming around for 4 hours!!! and my shoulders are looking a little bit pink because i lost track of the time. I took a rickshaw (google it) through the town which was lovely. i felt sorry for the man on the bicyle as i had just eaten my own body weight in egg fried rice!
In the evening i was planning on going to the theatre - as i am a bit posh like that you see - i decided i would have one beer in the bar before i left. little did i now it was happy hour so it was 2 for 1 on beer. i then bumped into a girl i met in Laos so though i better had stay for a catch up - happy hour had been extended so i had another 2 beers. i then entered a competion and won a shot of garlic vodka (disgusting!) then the hostel hosting all kinds of drinking games and competions so my one beer became a very messy evening.
I am drinking 'huda' beer out here - it costs 31p for a 4.7% 450ml bottle in happy hour so as you can imagine i will be staying here for a little longer than i had planned not to waste such a oppertunity!
After a heavey head this morning i decided i would go feel sorry for myself in town. i bumped into a vietnamise man who enquired about two insect bites i have on my legs that look quite nasty and infected. He told me the best curewas sea water and i dint even hesitate to agree - and off to the beach i went. i hired a driver and a motorbike as i was too scared to hire one for myself. Then spent a fair few lazy hours atempting to disguise my britsh paleness!
I am now back at the hostel and ready for a power nap as i would like to cram the theater and a river cruise tonight as i leave for Hoi An at 8am tomorrow-bright and early so i can have a full day there.
My bus is a measly 4 hours so it should fly by!
