So here's an update on me (Jess).
I stayed in Toronto (home of the world's Biggest Everything according to the Canadians - world's biggest book store, world's biggest dvd section, world's longest street, world's tallest building) for an extra day after Sarah left and did some more exploring and, of most importance...washed my clothes. That was awesome! (I'm not joking, really, awesome). And that night watched some dodgy Canadian t.v. with some hostel people and found out one very important fact that nearly killed Sarah when I told her in Boston. Wait for it... Joshua Jackson (he of Dawson's Creek and Mighty Ducks fame) was in Toronto at the EXACT same time as us filming a movie and went into the store one of the girls worked in not once, but twice. It was funny, Sarah really did nearly die. All in all, I quite liked Toronto.
On Friday morning I left for Boston and that's where my adventures began. My bus left at 6am Saturday morning so I made an effort and got up nice and early, got on the bus and travelled for a grand total of I think it was 3 hours before we made a stop at Buffalo, New York. And I found out that there was a massive snow storm and I was effectively stranded with nowhere to stay. Yay!
It was pretty scary at first cos all the people kept talking about all the "bad neighbourhoods" but actually it wasn't that bad. The bus driver offered to take me back to Toronto so I could start again in the morning but I decided to stay in Buffalo, seeing as I will probably never be there again, and be a proper traveller and adventurer. The nice man who loads all the luggage onto the bus helped me to find somewhere to stay which ended up being an ENORMOUSLY expensive hotel. It was pretty cool, I had not one but TWO king size beds, my own bathroom and access to the "business centre" for all my computer needs (I felt like an imposter in the business centre). Buffalo was actually pretty cool, it had all these awesome old buildings (no moose though) and really clean white snow (everywhere else had grey snow) and I got an escort to Walgreens. Thank you very much Adam whose pickup line to girls on the street is "That perfume you're wearing, it smells so nice". So on Sunday I tried again and actually made it to Boston this time. See next post for more fantastic adventures...
