DAY 36 Thursday 4.3.2010 Airplane,Qatar,India

Qatar Airways, 5 Star airline they say, and yes it is! Everything was good, food was maybe best what we have had in plane this far and everybody had their own screens with games and plenty of movies and music. And we got survival kit with teethbrush, eye cover (silmälappu) and socks, we did need them! Our first big stop was in Doha, Qatar. We planned to spend day in Doha but instead of city sightseeing we needed to stay at airport because it doesn't make sense to pay 28$ for VISA for 14 hours in city where is nothing to do and expensive. There wasn't short time VISAs available like in some countries. But, there was WLAN at airport and quite room with nice chairs where you can rest. Problem was that we noticed it five minutes before departing to Mumbai :/

India part one begins. It wasn't even option that we can't get VISA and be able to go India. Unfortunately it was. In passport control and immigration we filled the forms and everything was fine. They asked if we had an onward flight from India, we hadn't, resevation to hotel, we hadn't. There was not mentioned in Indianembassy.fi that you would need to have flight or resevation if you apply VISA on arrival. During 2010 only Finland, Luxembourg, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand (not even Sweden./) citizens can have VISA at the biggest airports in India for one month for 60$. We are lucky to have this oppoturnity but unlucky to have wrong information. So, when we were waiting our VISAs we didn't have any idea that they would deny them. Happy-looking man came to us and said that please follow me. We walked and walked toward our gate where we had landed and then we thought that DAMN, what is happening and after second we had return tickets to Doha, with the same plane that we came with. We asked questions but everybody answered differently. We had to pay our ticket because it's said in the rules that we have to go back to our depart destination. A few more hours in good aircraft, the only positive thing :)

It took six more hours at the Doha airport to solve our problem and pay the tickets. And now we had to buy VISA to Qatar and look for accommodation because we don't want to buy tickets that cost almost thousand euros to India in airport.
... The mission was complete. We managed to book the flight for the next day to Delhi, because it should be easier airport to have VISA. We also booked onward flight to Kuala Lumpur on 4th of April and made a resevation to hotel in Delhi. Hotel may sound expensive but it's everything but it, two euros each!
