Swift Current and Medicine Hat were just a blur through the windscreen as it chucked it down for most of the drive. When i was driving, Dad used the invisible brake peddle he has in the passenger footwell. He took his turn at driving for a few 'clicks' and decided he'd had enough so he pulled over to switch seats in the middle of a swarm of Mosquitos.
The rain cleared as we drove through the Cypress Hills swatting Mosquitos. The Hills were a nice change of scenery from the flatlands we have been driving through for so long. But the best sight was the Rocky Mountains We could see them way off in the distance as we approached Calgary 'they are seriously awesome'.
At Calgary airport the Toyota/Nissan 'sedan' was returned, we were left like a couple of pack mules and had to lug our gear all of 25 meters to the airport hotel.
Time to kill .... so we checked out the airport to get familiar with the set up and grab a burger, Dad tried his sign language skills again here, it looks like the recruiting firm the airport use don't require even a basic understanding of the English language for the cleaning crew, and we thought 'McDonnalds' was a universal word! Dad scared the little lady off with his attempt at taking a bite from his invisible burger.
Our last night and we have slotted into the old routine....Dads head in his diary and I'm typing this. No need to get up early as we don't check in till 1130 ...... Let's hope the insomnia doesn't return :)
