Blog – sat 5th August
Once everyone had woken up and eaten a hearty breakfast it was time to be put into teams for the Mexican game. First we had to find our very own eagle with a snake in its mouth (the meaning behind the Mexican flag) which gave us a clue to go to the next station. We ended up making guacamole, playing an aztec ball game, Mexican wrestling and floating on a makeshift raft to retrieve flowers from the floating gardens of Xochimilco (the pool).
Lunch was the best we have had since arriving in Mexico and the avocados made up for the lack of guacamole on the trip so far, I am honestly astounded at how little guacamole there has been, I need more of it in my life.
The afternoon consisted of a 60 year anniversary celebration of Our Cabana, we had the option to take part in a salsa dancing class, use the fun photo booth, or enjoy the afternoon sun. After a buffet tea of traditional food we were surprised by the volunteers with a pinata, although not everyone was able to have a go at hitting it, followed by a performance from a mariachi band complete with a conga and limbo (dad you would have enjoyed the trumpet players).
Apologies this is a little late, I temporarily lost my phone.
